What good meta tags achieve

The page title tells search engines and people what a page is about. The description expands on that idea and may appear as the search-result snippet. Both should describe the specific page rather than squeeze the whole website into general advertising copy.

Canonical and robots

The canonical link identifies the preferred URL. This matters when the same content is available at several addresses. The robots directive controls whether a page may be indexed and whether crawlers may follow its links. An accidental noindexdirective can remove a page from search results.

Open Graph and Twitter Card

These details shape the preview when a link is shared on social networks or in messaging apps. A platform may still choose its own presentation or show cached data.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a page title be?
There is no fixed character limit because search engines truncate according to available width. Around 50 to 60 characters is often a useful guide, but not proof of quality.
Do good meta tags guarantee better rankings?
No. They make content and previews clearer, but do not replace useful page content, sound technology, internal links, authority or a clear search intent.
Why is my preview shown differently later?
Search engines and social platforms may shorten text, choose different page extracts or show old data from their cache. The generator provides a realistic guide, not a binding platform output.
